| Some Typical Services Rendered
to Clients: Nutritional and
Health-related Realms and Products
On
this page, I offer an overview and brief summary of some services in
the nutritional and health-related category which
I have rendered to consulting and contractual clients since 1998. In
all
cases, any significant details which might allow an observer to
identify a client or technology or technology details to an
inappropriate extent have been
obscured to maintain complete client confidentiality.
A
note about client privacy and confidentiality: Identity of my clients
and details of work rendered for my clients, unless explicit
arrangements have been made otherwise, remains entirely confidential
and private. This is of utmost importance in this field, as many of my
clients have a number of proprietary and trade secrets for technologies
and processes which they wish to keep confidential.
- For
a MLM nutritional products
vendor:
formulation of three antioxidant-rich fermented herbal nutritional
supplement products, two in liquid form and one in encapsulated powder
form. Included formulation and on-site
training
of technical staff in fermentation, production and bottling techniques,
and assistance with labeling statements and in compiling accurate and
informative marketing literature.
. - For
a small producer of specialty
livestock feed supplements: guided them in
using a
customized proprietary formulation of beneficial syntropic antioxidative
microbes (SAM) and microbial boosters (aka microbial
accelerators) to reduce levels of molds (fungi)
growing in
their product after bottling and after customer had opened
bottle. Included product testing and
development of appropriate treatment methods in my in-house
laboratory.
- For
a leading cutting-edge non-profit research and educational organization:
created a very simple, reliable and robust method for monitoring heart
rhythm during exercise (both in lab settings and free-roaming in the
field) and then transmitting relevant heart rhythm data wirelessly to a
remote receiver/PC to allow logging, analysis, display and real-time
monitoring of various indices of heart rate variability (HRV) and
related measures of psychophysiological heart-centered coherence.
Project included creation and delivery of four functional prototypes
for research use, and included delivery of relevant files and diagrams
to allow automated production of the printed circuit boards needed for
the device.
- For
a producer/distributor of a
high-end specialty consumer/skin care products:
was asked to assist them in increasing levels of PNSB
microbes and their metabolites
in their syntropic
antioxidative
microbes (SAM) product to ensure greater levels of
product effectiveness. This work
involved testing for levels
of PNSB and metabolites using proprietary rapid-assay methods in my
in-house laboratory as well
as testing of representative samples by a certified external
independent testing laboratory.
- For
a small nutritional products
company:
product development of four fermented antioxidant-rich nutritional
supplement beverages (aka "brews"). Included formulation and on-site
training
of technical staff in production and bottling techniques.
- For
a small health-conscious and "green" health products
company:
product development of two fermented antioxidant-rich herbal
nutritional
supplement products and two antioxidant-rich fermented skin care
products. Included formulation, brewing of pilot test batches and
on-site
training
of technical staff in production and bottling techniques
- For
a large producer/distributor
of nutritional supplement products:
Served as project manager and research coordinator for their efforts to
evaluate three in-house antioxidant nutritional products and compare
them with a similar product from a competitor. This involved performing
numerous evaluative tests in my
in-house laboratory and also recommending and coordinating numerous
tests by external independent certified antioxidant testing
laboratories. My services involved eventually
providing guidance on labeling and marketing claims and on FDA
compliance.
- For
a producer/distributor of
fermented antioxidant nutritional supplement products: was
asked to act as project manager in testing of a somewhat a novel new
nutritional supplement product which the company had developed,
performing numerous evaluative tests in my
in-house laboratory and also recommending and coordinating numerous
tests by external independent testing laboratories and eventually
providing guidance on labeling and marketing claims. My
work included use of in-house measures of ORP, PH, RH2
score (aka RH), and some proprietary rapid assay measures of singlet
oxygen quenching ability and other rapid assay measures of antioxidant
activity and coordinating numerous antioxidant
activity
tests on the product
by independent certified antioxidant laboratories; these tests
included
ORAC, NORAC, HORAC, SORAC, SOD activity, and several other assays.
Finally, my work included assessment of the properties of the product
in the realm of acting as an electron transfer agent or electron
shuttle in facilitating or catalyzing certain antioxidant activities.
Our work eventually showed that this product had applications
in
industrial and waste remediation as well as in the
fields of
human and animal nutrition.
- For
a small wheatgrass producer:
product development of two high-antioxidant fermented wheatgrass
juice products capable of being stored at room temperature with a shelf
life of over three years. Also provided guidance on applications
and use of a
customized proprietary formulation of beneficial syntropic antioxidative
microbes (SAM) and microbial boosters (aka microbial
accelerators) in the wheatgrass growing
process.
- For
a medium-sized
producer/grower of sprouted products:
assistance in design and fabrication of a large flow-thru water
electrolyzer for production of electrolyzed acid water (aka EAW), also
known as electrolyzed oxidized water (EOW). Also provided guidance on
applications and on use of a
customized proprietary formulation of beneficial syntropic antioxidative
microbes (SAM) and microbial boosters (aka microbial
accelerators) in the sprouting process.
- For
an animal nutritional
products producer and distributor:
formulation assistance and project management guidance in development
of several nutritional supplement products for pets and livestock
employing a
customized proprietary formulation of beneficial syntropic antioxidative
microbes (SAM) and microbial boosters (aka microbial
accelerators).
- For
a large established high-end
nutritional products producer and distributor:
formulation assistance and project management guidance in development
of several nutritional supplement products a
customized proprietary formulation of beneficial syntropic antioxidative
microbes (SAM) and microbial boosters (aka microbial
accelerators).
- For
a medium-sized worldwide
marketer of a line of specialty water-treatment devices:
served as project manager to research the claims which the company had
been making regarding the effects of their devices, including some
health-related claims, and to steer and manage a large volume of
contractual studies by external independent testing laboratories
to document some of the effects. This role included performing product
testing in my in-house laboratory as well as referrals to external
labs.
Included evaluation of their marketing material and website claims from
a viewpoint of commonsense truth, ethics and compliance with FDA and
FTC
guidelines.
- For
a
small producer/distributor of specialty organic food products:
was asked to evaluate several competing sustainable and green
disinfecting technologies for treating salad greens and for
FDA
and USDA-compliant sanitation of food preparation surfaces; and
eventually assisted in selection and evaluation of water
electrolyzers for production of electrolyzed oxidized water (EOW), aka
electrolyzed acid water (EAW.) Included on-site visits to facilities.
- For
a distributor of environmental and health-related products: was
asked to investigate and evaluate the claims made for a number of
kitchen countertop water ionizers which claimed to
produce alkaline
ionized water, which is more accurately described as
electrolyzed reduced water, aka ERW, and to assist them in
understanding the claims and the realities behind the effects of the
water produced by such devices.
- For
two
nutritional supplement vendors: formulated unique
antioxidant helper (aka antioxidant assistant or antioxidant mediator)
nutrients for use as cofactors with antioxidant formulations.
